Homemade Electrolyte Popsicles
Eat within 30 min afterFrozen recovery popsicles made from coconut water, fresh fruit, and a touch of honey. A homemade alternative to commercial electrolyte ice pops, perfect after hot summer runs when your core temperature needs cooling along with rehydration.
Popsicles
Eat one popsicle within 30 minutes of finishing a hot or hard run. The cold helps drop core temperature while the coconut water and added salt replace electrolytes. Use any fresh fruit you have on hand, berries and watermelon work especially well. Will keep in the freezer for up to 3 months.
In a blender, combine the coconut water, berries, honey, lemon juice, and sea salt. Blend until smooth.
Strain through a fine-mesh sieve to remove seeds (optional, depends on fruit and preference).
Pour into 6 popsicle molds, leaving a small gap at the top for expansion.
Insert sticks and freeze at least 6 hours, ideally overnight.
To unmold, run warm water over the outside of the molds for 10-15 seconds.
